Spain vs Italy.... olay

we went out on family day with Gabe and Kirsten to watch Spain play Italy.
on the way we stopped by Subway again( we can't get enough of it)and picked up some good food, you cant watch a game without good food and drinks, and though there was no beer it was lots of fun.
i was voting for Spain, because i've met too many Italy fans that i don't like.
It was real fun though, Jaime was such a good girl, she ate and ate, and ran happily around with her new friend Kayla( Gabe and Kirsten's daughter)and the crawled into priyas lap and just fell happily to sleep.
it was our first full game since Africa, plus they were both really good teams, and we had good food, so it was a good game.

Happy Birthday Beautiful

Priyas birthday was on the 20th, and we were both really happy to be able to have it in our new home.
the people here were so cool, we had only been here for a few days and they were already asking me what Priya likes, what kind of party she wants, what kinda snacks etc.
i was really impressed that they cared so much.
on her birthday, i took priya to one of the malls near here to get her a birthday present.
so we went out and got the ingredients for Pina Coladas, which is something that Priya has been wanting for a while, prices for stuff here is kinda like Mexico its cheapish but not really much cheaper than the states.
actually for a lot of things the states is cheaper.
anyway after that we went out to subway(which is like jesus' restaurant to us) and priya got her all time favorite meatball sub, don't ask me why but it is her favorite sub in the world.

(My rant)
after being in Switzerland (which is like a third world country, cause they only have swiss things, you can only get like two flavors of chips and thats all they have in all of Switzerland. and they don't have even one Subway there, those barbarians.)it is so cool to be in a place where you can get basically anything again.
I guess because in the states and Canada there are so many different cultures and nationalities living there that you can get basically anything from any part of the world, unlike Switzerland and the rest of the Third World.

so for Priyas Birthday this one girl in the home, Ang spent the whole day in the kitchen making a really good Indian meal for priya.
meanwhile Rachel, Jazmin, and Joe all helped to organize a party for priya over at one of the other homes.
apparently the party was super fun, i don't know because i went to put Jaime to sleep and fell asleep and missed the party, but priya had fun and that is what counts.
we are both super thankful to all the people in the home who worked so hard to make priyas birthday the best.
anyways, thanks to everyone who had a part in making it special, and Happy Birthday to the most important person in the world to me.

Happy Father's Day Daddy!!!!! Hope that you have a really cool day. I love you so much. Thanks for always being there for me & being such a great role model. Miss you so much.

Father's Day History

The idea of celebrating "Father's Day" originated in 1909 in Washington, America. Sonora Smart got this idea while listening to a Mother's Day sermon. She thought of a special day to honor her father, William Smart.

William Smart was widowed when his wife died while giving birth to their sixth child. William raised all the six children by himself. When Sonora grew into an adult, she realized the courage and selflessness shown by her father. Sonora's father was born in June, so she decided to celebrate the first Father's Day celebration on 19 June 1910.

President Calvin Coolidge, in 1924, supported the idea of a national Father's Day. The National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City in 1926. A Joint Resolution of Congress recognized the Father's day in 1956. Then in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day. President Richard Nixon signed the law, which finally made it permanent in 1972.

A father passing by his son's bedroom was astonished to see the bed was nicely made and everything was picked up. Then he saw an envelope propped up prominently on the center of the bed. It was addressed, "Dad". With the worst premonition, he opened the envelope and read the letter with trembling hands:

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you. I had to elope with my new girlfriend because I wanted to avoid a scene with mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Joan and she is so nice even with all her piercing, tattoos and her tight motorcycle clothes. But it's not only the passion dad, she's pregnant and Joan said that we will be very happy. Even though you don't care for her as she is so much older than I, she already owns a trailer in the woods and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter.

She wants to have many more children with me and that's now one of my dreams too. Joan taught me that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone and we'll be growing it for us and trading it with her friends for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want! In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS so Joan can get better; she sure deserves it!!

Don't worry Dad. Someday I'm sure we'll be back to visit so you can get to know your grandchildren.

Your son,

Benjamin

P. S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at the neighbor's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than my report card that's in my desk center drawer. I love you! Call when it is safe for me to come home.

Brag about parents

An Army brat was boasting about his father to a Navy brat.

"My dad is an engineer. He can do everything. Do you know the Alps?"

"Yes," said the Navy brat.

"My dad has built them."

Then the naval kid spoke: "And do you know the Dead Sea?"

"Yes."

"It's my dad who's killed it!"

Child sent to bed

A small boy is sent to bed by his father...

[Five minutes later]

"Da-ad..."

"What?"

"I'm thirsty. Can you bring me a drink of water?"

"No. You had your chance. Lights out."

[Five minutes later]

"Da-aaaad..."

"WHAT?"

"I'm THIRSTY...Can I have a drink of water??"

"I told you NO! If you ask again I'll have to spank you!!"

[Five minutes later]

"Daaaa-aaaAAAAD..."

"WHAT??!!"

"When you come in to spank me, can you bring me a drink of water?"

Here is A story that i saw on Yahoo news.

Bush gives Medal of Honor to soldier killed in Iraq

By BEN FELLER, Associated Press Writer Mon Jun 2, 6:56 PM ET

WASHINGTON - President Bush on Monday presented the nation's highest military award to a 19-year-old soldier who died saving the lives of four comrades in Iraq by jumping on a grenade tossed into their military vehicle. The honored soldier, Army Pfc. Ross McGinnis, "gave all for his country," the president said somberly.

No one outside this man's family can know the true weight of their loss. But in words spoken long ago, we are told how to measure the kind of devotion that Ross McGinnis showed on his last day: 'Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.'"

The president spoke in the East Room at a ceremony attended by Vice President Dick Cheney, prior recipients of the Medal of Honor, military leaders, McGinnis' parents, Tom and Romayne, and his two sisters, Becky and Katie. The four soldiers protected by McGinnis' actions were all in attendance.

McGinnis was in the gunner's hatch of a Humvee on Dec. 4, 2006, on a patrol in Iraq, when a grenade sailed past him and into the vehicle where the four other soldiers sat. He shouted a warning, then jumped on the grenade while it was lodged near the vehicle's radio.

"By that split-second decision, Private McGinnis lost his own life, and he saved his comrades," Bush said.

McGinnis grew up in the rural town of Knox, Pa., about 60 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

He enlisted in the Army after some struggles in school. Friends and family say they were watching him transform into a man.

Bush called him a regular guy, a dependable friend with a big heart and a carefree spirit. He also had a robust sense of humor, as was known as the only one in boot camp who could make his drill sergeant laugh, the president said.

The president said it was a high privilege for him to present the Medal of Honor, recognizing valor beyond anything that duty could require.

"May the deep respect of our whole nation be a comfort to the family of this fallen soldier," Bush said. "May God always watch over the country he served, and keep us ever grateful for the life of Ross Andrew McGinnis."
